In Manchester Thousands Of People Signed On Postcards Which Will Be Presented To The Prime Minister Of Britain. In London The Police Are Gearing Up For The Participation Of Thousands. In New York An Assembly Is Taking Place Opposite The UN Building With Karnit And Miki Goldwasser In Attendance.

To mark the passage of a year since the Lebanon war, mass demonstrations by Jewish communities on behalf of the safe return of Gilad Shalit, Eldad Regev, and Ehud Goldwasser are taking place in central locations throughout the world.  The demonstrations are taking place at the initiative of the Jewish Agency, the World Zionist Organization in collaboration with the Presidents Conference and the Zionist Federation of North America.

About 700 people participated in the demonstration that took place in the Manchester City Square opposite the municipality building.  Participants signed up thousands of passersby on postcards calling upon Britain's Prime minister, Gordon Brown, to take action for freeing the kidnapped soldiers.

In London a mass gathering will kick off this evening opposite the Syrian Embassy, in order to apply pressure on Syria which provides sanctuary to terror organizations.  The police are preparing for the participation of thousands.

In New York as well a mass demonstration is taking place opposite the UN building with thousands of Jewish students, youth movement members, heads of Jewish communities, rabbis, leaders and representatives of Jewish organizations.  Likewise, members of Congress will participate in the demonstration together with Karnit Goldwasser, the wife of the kidnapped soldier Ehud Goldwasser, and his mother Miki Goldwasser.

Argentine Jewry will commemorate the anniversary of the terror attack at the Jewish community building in Buenos Aires tomorrow.  Before the event to commemorate the lethal attack a mass gathering will take place in which the participants will call for the liberation of the kidnapped soldiers.

The Chairman of the Jewish Agency Education Committee, Amos Hermon, said that this worldwide measure is intended to place the topic on the international agenda and apply pressure on Syria in order to return the three sons home to their families.  Chairman of the Department for Zionist Activity in the World Zionist Organization Shlomo Mola said that he hopes that the enlightened world will wake up and will provide assistance to secure the speedy restoration of the captives to their homes and loved ones.
