Last Thursday, (July 27th) I together with a delegation of Christian friends of  Israel from Holland, visited a summer camp jointly organized by the Jewish Agency and the HaNoar HaOved VeHaLomed youth movement. The camp operates in the Mekorot HaYarkon Nature Reserve in the Petah Tikvah vicinity, hosting children from Haifa and its surrounding townships as well as children from Druze and Arab villages. Some children are members of HaNoar HaOved VeHaLomed while other children are unaffiliated with the movement. A logistic network comprised of Hebrew and Arabic speaking counselors operates in the camp, with responsibility for transportation, cultural activity, meals, psychological assistance for the children, sleeping arrangements etc.

The delegation representing a movement which has already made contributions to the Agency earmarked for summer camps was deeply impressed by the counselors' professionalism, the splendid organization of the camp and the need to distance the children from the threat of missiles falling on the north. They filmed a movie about the camp which will be disseminated in Holland upon their return home.
