US Delegations Arrive in Safed

October 25, 2006 / 3 Cheshvan 5767

Delegations from the United States are flooding the city of Safed, and visiting the Jewish Agency's Tzahal 9 Absorption Center.

Approximately ten delegations visited the Tzahal 9 Absorption Center during the past two weeks.

Over the course of their visit, the delegation participants learned about the life of the immigrants and native residents during the Second Lebanon War, inquired about the immigrants' reception by the city's residents, and listened to the steady flow of compliments for the residents' warm treatment of the Ethiopian immigrants.

As part of their visit, the delegates were treated to traditional Ethiopian food and accounts of the immigrants' experiences over the course of their immigration to the Land of Israel.

The delegates placed great emphasis on the immigrants' absorption in the city's various educational frameworks and the adults' integration in the workforce, both in the city of Safed as well as in their permanent places of residence.

The delegates promised to return and also to support this very important cause.
