Daily Message From Adi Eldar
14.8.2006

In his daily message sent to Karmiel residents Adi Eldar, the city's mayor said,

"My dear residents of Karmiel,

Today a ceasefire was declared and although Home Front instructions have not yet been revised, I am hopeful that within the coming days we will all be able to return to our normal routine.

This war placed Karmiel along the frontlines and as such, we will prepare ourselves in the future.

The city of Karmiel has begun to organize its school system in advance of the coming school year with the intention, if the current ceasefire remains stable, of opening on September 1.

Various organizations have informed me that they wish to contribute backpacks and school supplies for the pupils of our elementary schools. A separate announcement will be issued in the coming days.

As of today, the instructions of the Home Front Command remain unchanged; therefore, we are required to remain in our shelters and secure rooms.

Thank you for your steadfastness throughout the war and I sincerely hope that life in Karmiel and the country will return quickly to its normal pace.

Sincerely yours,

Adi Eldar, mayor"
