"The Legacy of Herzl" was the subject of a forum organized by the Zionist Organization of Holland, where the new translation of "The Jewish State" was presented for the first time.
The Zionist Federation of Holland (FNZ) in cooperation with the publisher Mets & Schilt and in honor of the centenary of Herzl's passing have published Herzl's "The Jewish State" in Dutch. The last translation dates back to 1919. The presentation of the new publication to Eytan Margalit, Israel's Ambassador to the Netherlands by Dan Cohen, President FNZ, opened an informational evening that was all Herzl.
The panel consisted of Leonard Ornstein, journalist at the Dutch weekly Vrij Nederland, which was established during WWII as a socialist information bulletin; Professor E. Gans, Dutch Jewish studies, University of Amsterdam; Inez Polak, journalist at the Dutch Daily Trouw, which was also establish during WWII as an information bulletin of the Protestant resistance; and Dan Cohen. Each participant of the panel delivered a talk on the subject of "The Legacy of Herzl", from his/her perspective. The event took place in the Uilenburger synagogue in the old Jewish centre of Amsterdam.
