Community Projects to Restore the North - Upper Galilee Regional Council

Upper Galilee Regional Council

Facts about the region:

  • Extends from the Beit HaKerem Valley Northwards to the Lebanese border.
  • Includes 29 kibbutzim, each with 400-700 residents
  • Was founded between 1915 and 1950
  • Current population: 15,350 residents
  • Ranks 7 out of 10 on the socioeconomic scale (according to the National Bureau of Statistics)
  • Dominant industries include rubber and plastics factories, other local industries include agriculture, tourism and public services
  • 4,615 children and youth are registered in regional educational frameworks:
    • 1,703 are elementary school
    • 1,352 are in junior high school
    • 1,560 are in high school
  • The regional council strives to offer its residents an array of cultural, educational, social and health services that strengthen their communities.

As part of its mission to rebuild the Galilee and restore vibrant communities across the region, the Jewish Agency seeks your support to repair and renovate the following damaged buildings:
