Community Projects to Restore the North - Nahariya

Facts about the community:

  • Founded in 1935
  • Current population: 49,300
  • 13.9% of the population are retired senior citizens (over age 65)
  • Ranks 6 out of 10 on the socioeconomic scale (according to the National Bureau of Statistics)
  • 2,008 local residents are in need (according to the local Department of Welfare)
  • 2,078 children are immigrants, 340 of which are in need (according to the local Department of Social Services)
  • 7,284 children and youth are registered in regional educational frameworks:
    • 3,891 are in elementary school
    • 1,506 are in junior high school
    • 1,887 are in high school
  • Home to some of Israel's most successful private sector industrial enterprises, e.g. the Strauss dairy company (now Strauss-Elite food conglomerate), Soglowek meat processing company, and Iscar the high-precision metal-works and tool-making giant.

As part of its mission to rebuild the Galilee and restore vibrant communities across the region, the Jewish Agency seeks your support to repair and renovate the following community buildings:
