Community Projects to Restore the North - Mate Asher Regional Council
Mate Asher Regional Council

Facts about the region:

  • Was founded in 1982
  • Current population: 18,000
  • More than 10% of the population are retired senior citizens
  • Region is comprised of 56% kibbutzim, 19% Arab villages and 25% community settlements.
  • Ranks 5 out of 10 on the socioeconomic scale (according to the National Bureau of Statistics)
  • 4,732 Jewish and Arab children and youth are registered in regional educational frameworks:
    • 2,392 are in elementary school
    • 1,195 are in junior high school
    • 1,145are in high school
  • 231 children are immigrants, 36 of which are in need (according to the local Department of Social Services)
  • Agriculture is the main source of income; the region supplies 40% of Israel's avocado produce and more than 1/3 of its bananas
  • Smaller industries include furniture, food and commercial business

As part of its mission to rebuild the Galilee and restore vibrant communities across the region, the Jewish Agency seeks your support to repair and renovate the following community buildings:

A residential community for young talented musicians. The community serves as a cultural center in the region. Stage one is now complete and includes 3 buildings in which top educators live.  This is a request for stage two funding to construct dorms for students, additional living quarters for teachers, additional music class rooms, practice rooms, offices, Camry halls, a cafeteria and a concert hall
