Community Projects to Restore the North - Safed

Safed

Facts about the community:

  • Current population: 26,600
  • 10.5% of the population are retired senior citizens (over age 65)
  • 10,900 residents are children ages 0-17
  • Ranks 4 out of 10 on the socioeconomic scale (according to the National Bureau of Statistics)
  • 3,095 local residents are in need (according to the local Department of Welfare)
  • 1,374 children are immigrants, 173 of which are in need (according to the local Department of Social Services)
  • 6,660 children and youth are registered in regional educational frameworks:
    • 3,997 are in elementary school
    • 1,051 are in junior high school
    • 1,612 are in high school
  • The city attracts tourists through its cultural and spiritual activities including, a residential artist's colony, galleries and museums, Kabbalah rabbi educational centers and grave sites.

As part of its mission to rebuild the Galilee and restore vibrant communities across the region, the Jewish Agency seeks your support to repair and renovate the following community buildings:
