The circumstances that led to Nir's death were very in tune with who he was; a head strong, determined and stubborn fighter on the outside. However, on the inside Nir was a soft, caring, supportive, very maternal and responsible human being.
He had a kind heart and good soul.
Each madrich on the Machon was responsible for escorting sick chanichim to the Dr and during the winter months there were many chanichim who had to visit the Dr. In order to accommodate the madrichim we raised the option of dividing the responsibility amongst all the Tzevet. When Nir heard the suggestion he raised his voice and said "they are my chanichim and I will take responsibility for taking them to the Dr."
This small story characterizes Nir, who would speak out, take responsibility and show his caring nature sometimes to his detriment.
Nir thought deeply about his aspirations and why; and we on the Machon felt and saw this. He was passionate and wholly believed in what he did.
He invested time, love and care in his chanichim and his role as a madrich on Machzor 114 (Feb-June 2006). He was a dugma ishit to his chanichim and succeeded in instilling a love for Israel through getting to know the land by listening, smelling, tasting and walking.
His dream was to become a professional tour guide as his love and passion for the land of Israel was so great
We will truly miss him so much here.
