 Treating  Trauma in Sderot

January 20, 2008 / 13 Shevat 5768

On Sunday, January 6, Barry Laufer from New York, a representative of the Renee Sacks foundation, visited Sderot. The Sacks foundation has already contributed $45,000 to repair the central Sderot trauma center. Barry toured the center and heard an explanation from Vladimir.  He is the psychologist at the center, who treats the residents suffering from trauma due to Kassam missile attacks.

After visiting the center , Barry viewed the collection of Kassam remnants at the Sderot police station. He also toured a neighborhood where missiles had recently struck and viewed the damage to buildings. Near one of the buildings he met with a resident and awarded her a check from the Jewish Agency Fund for Terror Victims.

After visiting Sderot, Barry visited the Jewish Agency's Friedmann Student Village Ibim and listened to an explanation about programs for young people at the location.

The tour of Sderot and Ibim left a profound impression on Barry and he called it an unforgettable experience.
