The gift certificates that the children received enabled them to start school with the same sort of books and supplies as their classmates from established Israeli households. This allowed them to fit right in with their class and start school on the right foot.

Besides the direct benefit to the children, it is encouraging to all of us to know that somewhere on the other side of the globe there is a warmhearted Jewish community that cares enough about the immigrants from Ethiopia to want to help us get settled in the Land of Israel.
