The At Home-Together program provides volunteers called “Absorption Friends” who are ready to assist you in taking care of the many arrangements and bureaucratic details upon your arrival in Israel.

Personal:

From wherever you make Aliyah, and however well you know how to manage the system, moving to a new country will inevitably entail readapting and learning how things work. The At Home-Together program offers a pool of volunteers called “Absorption Friends” who are ready to assist you in taking care of the many arrangements and bureaucratic details upon your arrival in Israel. These might include: opening a bank account, registering for a Health Fund, finding an ulpan, making arrangements in various educational frameworks and general guidance to take full advantage of your rights.

The At Home-Together Absorption Friends will help orientate you in your new surroundings and help you get acquainted in your neighborhood as well as offer tips and support and generally assist you to integrate into Israel.

We believe that a personal, social connection between Israelis, veterans and new immigrants, between families and families or singles, contributes substantially to one’s absorption process in Israel.

Families:

You may choose to enjoy the support of a family that will escort you through your first steps in Israel. The family with which you will be matched is often a veteran immigrant family from your country of origin or Israelis who speak your language and have volunteered to help you integrate into Israeli society. You might choose to spend Shabattot or holidays together, go out socially, go hiking together or any activity that helps you establish and enjoy this important personal social support. An Absorption Family is there to ensure that you fully experience the beauty of Israeli society and enjoy it at its best.

Families are matched according to language, location, profession, children’s ages, and common interests.

Specialized Volunteers:

Throughout your first year in Israel you will be able to benefit from and enjoy an ongoing relationship with a Specialized Volunteer. Specialized Volunteers may offer assistance in many areas: learning Hebrew, legal support, familiarity with topical issues, tutoring for the kids, translating documents etc.

The Specialized Volunteer can act as a private coach able to assist in many different aspects of absorption.
