Employment Mentors are specialists in the employment search process and in employment laws
 
Tasks of an Employment Mentor:
 
  • Meeting personally with the new immigrant in his first month after his/her arrival
  • Interviewing the new immigrant to gather relevant personal and professional information for the employment absorption process
  • Contacting the Aliyah Job Center
  • Assisting to write a professional CV
  • Helping with translation and receipt of approval of diplomas
  • Giving information and details to job search sources
  • Directing the new immigrant to additional employment assistance sources / utilization of rights
  • Providing initial information on licensing and professional registration
  • Creating and maintaining contact with employers and information from the Employment Center database
  • Applying for available positions
  • Working as an advocate opposite employers throughout the employment process
 
 
Responsibilities of an Employment Mentor - Specialist for Employment Search and Employment Laws (Either in small groups or long distance consulting):
 
  • Conduct and present a survey of the Israeli Job Market
  • Draw out the personal and professional potential in each person
  • Offer guidance in writing a CV
  • Assist in preparation for interviews
  • Provide employment search sources
  • Help acquire necessary tools for employment search
  • Understand, follow, and present employment laws: the rights and responsibilities of the worker in Israel
 
Responsibilities of a Professional Employment Specialist (There may be several types):
 
  • To provide information about a specific profession and the status of the Israeli job market in relevant fields
  • To provide information about the licensing and necessary registration process for realizing full professional potential
  • Assistance in making full use of professional networking with companies and associates in relevant fields
