On Wednesday, November 6, the group began its visit in the partnership region with wild and wonderful experience at the Nitzanim dunes in Hof Ashkelon on Rangers! Then, the group continued to the soccer field at Kibbutz Nitzanim, they meet with the youth soccer team of the “sports for all” program, the flagship partnership program of in Hof Ashkelon. They heard from Itzik Tzvi, the manager of the program, about the importance of this program and shared with them some of the kids’ success stories. Celie Brown, Board Chair of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle, Iantha Sidell, Chair of Seattle’s Israel and overseas allocation committee, Stuart Wachs, CEO of the Jewish Association of Greater Phoenix and Don Schon, the Phoenix Association Campaign Chair, got a “thank you cup” from the kids to their communities for supporting the program.
In Kiryat Malachi they met with the talented participants of the musical “Land of the Lost Games” which is produced and performed by the participants of “Art City,” the partnership’s flagship project in Kiryat Malachi. The group also visited the night clinic and heard from the doctor of its necessity and great importance to the local community.
In the partnership tradition, the group enjoyed a delicious homemade dinner along with the Turgeman family, Skalski family ,Slater family and Amar family from the village Nitzan and the home of Biran family from Kibbutz Nitzanim who opened their homes and generously hosted the mission members. Yair Farjun, the mayor of the Hof Ashkelon council join the dinner at Amar’s home with Seattle and Phoenix lay leaders. As the whirlwind day in the partnership region wound down, all expressed how meaningful the visit had been.
