BEERSHEVA, ISRAEL - Today in The Jewish Agency’s Kalisher Absorption Center for new immigrants, the Balsha family celebrated their traditional wedding, according to religious law, as part of their conversion process to Judaism.

Deputy Minister Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan married the ‘newly-weds’, and Avi Vartzman, Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, visited the family at their home after the ceremony. Others who were present: Tomor Shraga, the conversion mentor, other new immigrants and staff of the Absorption Center.

“We are trying to keep to normal routine as much as we can, even in states of emergency,” said Talia Artzi of the Absorption Center. “May we only know more reasons to celebrate.”
