UPDATE: JULY 17, 2014: Tonight a Hamas missile fired from Gaza hit an apartment in an Amigour Home in Nitivot. Luckily the apartment was empty and was about to be occupied in the near future. No one was injured, but the apartment was severely damaged.
On Tuesday, 3 Amigour apartments were damaged by a Hamas missile in Sderot. Once again, no one was injured because the missile landed in the yard and caused damage to the apartments.
Amigour, a subsidiary of The Jewish Agency, is Israel’s leading sheltered housing company and second largest public housing group, with the majority of its residents elderly Holocaust survivors.
During the week we continued to replace what was missing in the bomb shelters in the south and central part of Israel. Amigour's staff is continuing to work overtime into the late evening hours and we have been organizing various cultural activities: performances of bands, singers, dancers and various enrichment activities in the fortified rooms.
In addition, all of Amigour's people, from the administration and downwards, are doing the best that they can to keep Amigour's residents calm. We are working day and night in the various cities and trying to help as much as possible.
A few days ago, through The Jewish Agency for Israel, we officially sent the JFNA a list of our immediate needs. We are very grateful to all the staff for the assistance.
We hope to soon hear positive news that will help us to bridge the financial gaps that have accumulated.
We are proud to be part of The Jewish Agency family and to serve a population of tens of thousands during these difficult times.
Tonight the ground operation in Gaza started. Let's pray for all our soldiers to come back home safe and for peace for our country.
