Limmud is an international organization which was founded in England 30 years ago in order to broaden the range of activities connected to Jewish identity and to encourage discussion of religious, secular and national issues. The organization was such a success that it spread to dozens of communities around the world.
The Limmud Arava project was initiated by a group of Partnership2Gether volunteer activists in Melbourne, all enthusiastic participants in Limmud Oz, and was eagerly adopted by the sister group in the Arava, under the auspices of the Jewish Agency.
In October 2009 the first Arava Limmud Conference took place in Sapir, the community center of the Central -Arava Regional Council. The day included study sessions, small "Hevruta" groups and a wonderful performance at the end of the conference.
Five simultaneous sessions were held hourly throughout the day, and attendees were faced with a difficult discussion choosing between them. This year is our fifth conference as we continue getting stronger!
