Cynthia Shapira Member of the Board of Governors
Cynthia D. Shapira is Senior Policy Advisory to Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and a community advocate. She sits on the Allegheny County Airport Authority Board and was appointed by Governor Corbett to the PA Commission on Women. She was member of the 2012 Pennsylvania Electoral College. Ms. Shapira serves as Corporate Secretary of the Jewish Federations of North America and the Vice Chair of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh.
Ms. Shapira is a trustee of Brandeis University and Point Park University. In Pittsburgh, Ms. Shapira chairs the PA Center for Women in Politics at Chatham University. She founded a major initiative with the United Way of Allegheny County to address the needs of youth with disabilities “aging out” of the system and served as Honorary Co-Chair of Allegheny 365, an initiative to ensure access to individuals of varying abilities in Allegheny County. Her community leadership roles include co-chair of the Pittsburgh Promise Campaign (and Board member). She also sits on the boards of the United Way of Allegheny County/executive committee, Point Park University, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, Vibrant Pittsburgh, and WQUED Pittsburgh and is a governor of the Jewish Agency for Israel..
Ms. Shapira’s prior experience focused on non-profit and education sector management strategic management consulting, including ten years as executive vice president of Pappas Consulting Group, Inc. She holds a Master’s degree in public administration (MPA) from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude in political science from Wellesley College.
