Social Pioneers for Underprivileged Neighborhoods

Young Activism

These extraordinary groups of Jewish young people live, work, and volunteer together in high-need areas in Israel. The Jewish Agency for Israel provides the day-to-day guidance, oversight, and grants needed to help them effect positive change today and create sustainable improvements for the future.

In the spirit of tikkun olam—a Jewish concept defined by performing acts of kindness in order to improve the world—The Jewish Agency's Young Communities are full of enthusiastic, motivated Jewish young people, striving to create a better tomorrow.
We call them "social pioneers," and through their charity and commitment to activism, they're building communities and social networks in under-privileged areas. Many of these individuals work day jobs, then as a group, volunteer in the evenings.
While almost three-quarters of the members are involved in educational projects, The Jewish Agency also helps Young Communities build social-entrepreneurship initiatives that create jobs for themselves and others. We believe young people are the key to Israel's future and it's our mission to make sure they have the resources they need to continue their good works.
