Yesterday we had the pleasure to host the Columbus Family Mission to Kfar-Saba.
Amir Segal, Avi Kagan and I welcomed the participants in the Net@ building. They have heard about the Columbus-Kfar Saba special connection through the Partnership Together program and the Jewish Agency activities.
The guests were divided into three groups, and each group experienced a different activity, led by the Net@ students: the first learnt how to dismantle and assemble a computer, the second practiced how to make a simple computer game using the Microsoft Kudu visual programming language and the third group had a tour of the Fixit Center, which is a lab for the recycling and repair of computers. Computers that cannot be repaired are used for parts. The computer lab charges local residents a nominal fee for repair work. The Neta@ participants work in the lab as volunteers and the lab also serves as an employment incubator for them.
Aharai! instructors and participants arrived, gave a t-shirt to each child and again, the guests were divided into three groups, and all had great fun, as you can see from the attached photos.
One of the guests remained inside since her young son fell asleep. I entered to see if he woke up and she said that her husband is popping in to show her clips he took using his cellular phone showing the various activities, and she regrets missing all the fun.
One of the Columbus guests was Addy Feibel, who arrived last year to Kfar Saba with the Young Partners mission. Her host was Hadar Menashe, who will fly to Columbus with the Kfar-Saba group later this year. The two girls spoke about the program and were proud of their beautiful friendship.
During dinner, eight Net@ students and eight Aharai! participants were sitting with the guests. We hope it will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Lihi, the new young shlicha to Columbus (the one to replace Liat Shaked) was invited by Avi and arrived to the evening. She was so helpful – I am certain she will be a great success in Columbus!
Wishing all the participants a wonderful tour of Israel and a safe flight home !
