After the start of the ceasefire, Thursday (22.11) The Jewish Agency for Israel is organizing a massive operation to take over 7,500 children and teenagers in approximately 150 buses for a day of rest and respite at a range of different venues in the center of the country. This brings to 25,000 the number of children taken for rest and respite out of rocket range this week by the Jewish Agency.

The costs for the Jewish Agency’s respite activities have been covered by Jewish Federations in North America and UJA Federation of Greater Toronto. In total, the Federations have pledged some $5 million towards urgent needs associated with the current conflict. These respite activities have been organized in full coordination with the National Emergency Authority (NEA) and the local authorities.

The Chairman of the Jewish Agency for Israel, Natan Sharansky said, “The assistance provided by the Jewish Federations of North America is a demonstration of the solidarity that Jews around the world feel with the residents of southern Israel. These Israelis have had to cope with an extremely difficult and painful reality on a daily basis.”

The Mayor of Sderot, David Buskila said, “These respite trips organized by the Jewish Agency are life altering for the participants. The organization has been highly professionally.”

The children will visit tomorrow at a large range of entertainment venues across the center and North of the country including the Biblical Zoo, the KifTzuba children’s amusement park, the Ramat Gan Safari amongst many others.

You are invited to cover the event: To coordinate you arrival at the different locations, please call the Jewish Agency spokespersons office on 02-620 2215 or Benjamin Rutland on 0526091099.
