The Jewish Federations of North America met this week with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and The Jewish Agency, reaffirming their historic partnership and shared commitment to enhancing Jewish life worldwide.

The organizations reached agreement in principle on a framework for overseas funding and collaboration to provide critical support for Jews around the world.

The proposed framework contains four key elements: revitalization of the historic global partnership of Jewish Federations, JDC and the Jewish Agency; establishing clear goals and operational guidelines for collective overseas engagement; creating a global planning table; and establishing an enhanced overseas allocations process for Jewish Federation funding.

“We are energized and inspired by the shared goodwill and desire of the Jewish Federations and our overseas partner agencies to seek new ways to serve the global Jewish community,” said Kathy Manning, chair of the JFNA Board of Trustees.

“We are firmly committed to working together to enhance support for the needs of the Jewish people worldwide,” said Jerry Silverman, president and CEO of JFNA, speaking on behalf of JFNA, JDC and JAFI.

The Jewish Federations and their overseas partners will be working swiftly to finalize agreement on the framework, with their boards reviewing the plans.
