Dear Friends,

In the days following the Flotilla incident and the heightened tension between Turkey and Israel, we have been in close and continuing contact with the leaders of the Turkish Jewish community that numbers 20,000 in population. Our Jewish Agency emissaries are on ground inquiring about their safety and to assure them that we are standing by and available to offer our support and assistance.

It has been and always will be the Jewish Agency’s mission to be the emergency first responder when Jews are in danger or distress anywhere in the world. And I can assure you, as our partners whose support and generosity make this readiness possible, that we are ready to act as needed and necessary in this situation. Thank you for enabling the Jewish Agency to continue our work to ensure the future of a connected, committed, global Jewish People with a strong Israel at its center.

You might also be interested to know that I have mobilized the 500 emissaries of the Jewish Agency and the World Zionist Organization to explain in their respective countries, the background, context and details of what actually happened on the Mavi Marmara. All the emissaries have received packets of information kits developed jointly with the Government of Israel. This information is naturally available for your use.

We continue to monitor the situation closely and will keep you posted in real time on the situation or any steps we may need to take.

Natan Sharansky
