Global Tu B'Shvat Seder 2007

Order your Tu B

JANUARY 30th, 31st & FEBRUARY 1st, 2007

For the past six years, the Resource Division of the Department of Jewish Zionist Education has hosted the renowned Tu B'Shvat Global Celebration, a mega-conference that unites Jewish schools across the globe to celebrate Tu B'Shvat, the Birthday of Trees.  From Be'er Sheva to Belgium, Manchester to Montreal, and Toronto to Toledo, Ohio, hundred of students participate in a visual exchange via videoconference technology.

This year again, each school will plant its own tree in Israel using their own videoconference system.  However this time, in light of the terrible ecological outcome of the war in the north of Israel, whereby thousands of trees, and whole forests were destroyed in the rocket fire, we will be heading to Ein Harod in the Gilboa region with our videoconference equipment. We will plant our Tu B'shvat Trees there on behalf of each participating diaspora school and do our part in helping bringing life back to this essential part of the country.

Global Tu B'shvat is designed to give Jewish students in middle and high schools around the world the opportunity to communicate, collaborate and contribute to each other’s learning in real time, using advanced multi-point video conferencing technology. Member schools will design and conduct videoconference-based presentations and activities focused on both Jewish life in their communities and in Israel.

Join us this year as we swap birthday cake with fresh fruit, and presents with trees.  We'll accompany the festivities with songs and blessings, alongside our annual Seder and tree-planting traditions and of course, your school presentations.
