Jewish Peoplehood Project

Every two years we will recruit parallel groups of active residents from Ofakim-Merchavim and MetroWest.  The two groups will work together and meet during the year as they focus on issues of Jewish identity, Israel-Diaspora relations, social involvement and leadership.  They will embark on two mutual visits and participate in a seminar for getting to know each other and getting involved in the community.  Members of the groups will develop and carry out a parallel project that benefits both communities.

"I was totally shocked to find that my host’s home and every other Israeli home must have a bomb safe room to obtain a certificate of occupancy," says Peoplehood Project participant Charles Brand. "I slept in that room every night for a week. My host was a bomb disposal technician in the local police department."
