Tikkun Olam and Community Involvement

The Jewish call for 'Tikkun Olam' (improving the world) echoes G-d's ancient command to Abraham: " Go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I will show you."  In effect, the Lord tells Abraham to get out of his comfort zone and emerge from his confined territory in order to bring to the world a message of justice and truth—to be "a light to all the nations."

In Modern Hebrew the meaning of the term 'Tikkun Olam' is interpreted as improvement, change and even a revolution in the life of humanity.  Tikkun Olam, which carries a sense of redemption, has become a conventional concept in the doctrines of thinkers, revolutionaries, and statesmen across the world in the new age.

This page contains a variety of Tikkun Olam programs and activities that will facilitate joint action of twinned schools, whether an activity is in the framework of a delegation or jointly contributing to the community as classrooms.
