Between listening to the news regarding Operation 'Protective Edge' and looking for ways to support the south in this trying days, our partnership had very interesting activities these last couple of months: 

July-August Report:

  • We are very moved by the 'Stop the Sirens' campaigns in all our communities and your support through emails and Facebook.
  • Mazal Tov to our Galilee Medical Center, who won the Israeli PR and Spokesperson Association Award! We are very proud of your achievements and  looking forward to new successes.
  • This  week two young basketball players from Akko and Matte Asher returned with Yaniv, their chaperone, from San Antonio, TX, where they were hosted by young athletes in their ages, and joined them to the Maccabi games in Boca Raton Florida.  
  • Last week a conference call took place with the Partnership management, the Communities Execs and with Partnership related staff. Attached you will find the updated calendar of opportunities for your review.
  • In the beginning of the month, Rani Trainin, Deputy Chairman of the Jewish Agency for Israel visited the Western Galilee Partnership and met with Yoram Israeli, the Mayor of the regional council of Matte Asher, together with Eshel Fram, head of Partnerships in the north, with Judy Yuda our director, our Partnership staff and with volunteers from our partnership:  Efrat Srebro, Aya Kipershlak  Albert Ben Shlush and Idan Gez from Kivunim. They all shared with Rani their own personal experience of Partnership, and how their organization gain from their connections with the Partnership. After this session, Rani went to see the Gaaton 'Masa' dance program in Kibutz Gaaton in the region.
  • Judy together with Bracha and the Medical Task force in the Galilee Medical Center met with Dr. Barhum to discuss the cooperation between the hospital and the Partnership.
  • This week Judy and Noa met with candidates for the "Women of Vision" Delegation'. This delegation will include women who are involved in Journalism,  legal affairs Jewish-Arab relations and tourism. This delegation will visit the communities in December 2014.  For more details, please contact Noa at:         
  • Judy and Heidi met with Dr. Yehuda Peled, the Partnership Marketing task force Chair to discuss the Cross Israel Road ride that is scheduled for November 2015. For more information you can contact Heidi at:         
  • Judy, Yehuda and Heidi met last week with Mr. Shlomo Abramovitch, the spokes person of the Matte Asher regional council, to explore ways of cooperating in terms of communication. You can visit the Matte Asher Facebook page in Hebrew at:!/profile.php?id=100006173023180&fref=ts
  • Noa and Avital, together with Bracha, met with Aya Kipershlak,  who is in charge of the Medical Center's foreign relationships, to discuss a new artistic initiative that was initiated in Indianapolis by the artist Joani Rothenberg, who already has special relations with the hospital. The initiative is a project that combines both arts and medicine and it is to create a mosaic  for the new women's wing that is being built in the hospital, and it will involve both the local and the partnership communities in its creation. This project will be further discussed by the two task forces together. 
  • Kivunim in Bustan Hagalil, was one of the many organizations in the region that took part in hosting and supporting young people with special need from the southern branch of Kivunim. This was all thanks to the generous donation from Omaha.   
  • The Young Shaliach from Indianapolis, Roy Swissa, will be visiting the Western Galilee next week. Roy will meet the coordinator of the lone soldiers program in Regba, with Natalie Barak from the WGC, Aya Kipershlak from the galilee Medical Center, a representative from Saving Stones 'Masa' program in Akko and with our partnership staff.
  • On September 8th, 2014, the opening of the Ballet Austin Exhibition in the Matte Asher Community Center will take place. This exhibition is a joint project of the Arts and Community task force, lead by Dr. Freddie Kelvin from Indianapolis and Yochanan Kishon from the Western Galilee.
  • Our annual Rosh Hashana Event for our Partnership volunteers will take place in the 'Treasures in the wall' Museum in Akko, on September 16th.
