Word about the activities of the Gilboa Women's Forum has spread beyond the confines of the regional council. Ilana Hayat, Gilboa Regional Council Secretary, "Even in biblical stories, the women of Gilboa were known for their outstanding leadership, wisdom and strength and the women today are living proof of this time and time again."
The Jewish Women's Forum was inaguarted a year ago with International Women's Day in 2002. The forum has already initiated many activities for the enrichment of the residents of the Gilboa region. The Forum initiated and implemented the distribution of holiday food packages to needy families in the Gilboa-Afula area for Passover of 2002. In light of the increasing number of needy families due to the worsening of the economic situation, this project was repeated for Passover 2003. From April 10-April 15, 2003, packages were packed and delivered to about 200 needy families in the Gilboa Region. "Chai" contributions were donated by families in West Hartford to help in supplying the goods for the Pessach food packages.
The Womens' Forum organized an event in honor of International Womens' Day. On March 11 over 700 Jewish and Arab Women residents of the Gilboa Region gathered to enjoy a performance given by two women Stand-Up comedians, one Jewish, one Arab.
The Gilboa Womens' Forum is a program supported by P2K through the Co-Existence Project.
