This spring an ecology day concerning the Dead Sea was held for both elementary schools in the Tamar Region; the Ein Gedi Elementary School and the Ein Tamar Elementary School.
The children were taught about the characteristics of the Dead Sea and the hazards facing it nowadays.

But just teaching is not enough of course. Afterwards they wrote notes with a well wishing to the Sea and put them in small bottles which were then thrown into the sea.
If an object stays in the Dead Sea for some time, a layer of salt will cover it entirely. This also will happen to these bottles, and when completely covered they will be retrieved and then used in an art exhibition.

Afterwards the children then prepared flags with Dead Sea slogans and formed a human chain to - symbolically - protect the Dead Sea.
The older children made Indian stone figurines to look after and protect the Dead Sea and the younger ones were very busy cleaning up the part of the beach where you can find plenty of natural sulfur springs. These springs are used more and more by visitors who, unfortunately, do not always clean up before they leave for home again.
