Women's Delegation to Moscow
Two women, one from Beit Shemesh and one from Moshav Srigim, represented our P2K region at a Women's Business Forum in Moscow. One is a lawyer and the other the chairman of an educational Amutah - Har Tuv. Both are active in our Women's Empowerment programme, supported by the Women's Zionist Council of South Africa, as an over and above project to P2K ( funding independent of the P2K budget).
Teacher's Seminar to SA
In March 2003, 10 teachers and principals from our region will go to SA as a reciprical visit after the Teacher's Seminar which took place in Dec 2001 in our P2K region. This was a great success and our teachers are being prepared for their visit and in the third year, they will do a joint project on some educational theme to be decided on during the visit to SA.
Madrichim for Summer Youth Movement Camps
We will begin to interview madrichim from the region for machanot in SA - this will be the fourth year we are sending madrichim to SA from our region. They are in huge demand by all the Movements.
Solidarity Mission from WAshington
The Mission arrives in the region during October-November and will be hosted in homes. The guests will participate in a project, such as packaging food for needy residents in the area, which will then be distributed by students and pupils who took part in various P2K projects.
Steering Committee
Sessions are to take place between November 4-8th in the region and delegates from SA and Washington are to participate. The delegations will be accommodated at Maale Chamishah Guest House for the week. Various on site vitists and discussions are being planned, with one social event to round the week off. This SC meeting is to authorise budgets for 2003 and mainly to discuss the "Lead" Project chosen for the coming years which will concentrate on Youth (informal education to the age of 18).
