Karmiel Misgav Opens the Door for New Volunteers

An orientation meeting was conducted on April 1st for a group of volunteers and activists interested in participating a variety of Partnership 2000 activities sponsored by the Jewish Agency for Israel. A group of 50 new and veteran volunteers met at Karmiel's Civic Auditorium to discuss the various activities conducted within the partnership's framework.

Scott Mann, himself a lay leader and P2K Steering Committee Co-chairman from the Misgav Regional Council welcomed the participants to the meeting and congratulated them on their joining the Partnership family. The participants also heard from Yael Raych, Regional Partnership Director, Marcie Lang, representative of the UJF of Greater Pittsburgh, Tzachi Levy, partnership activist and chairman of the regional YAD group, Ravid Biton and Zlil Rosenstein, participants in last year's "Young Ambassadors" program.

The highlight of the evening, skillfully emceed by Leviah Shalev-Fisher, Karmiel's spokeswoman was a performance by a group of young people from the Karmiel-Misgav region that will visit our Pittsburgh partner community as part of a delegation to mark Israel's Memorial Day and its 60th Independence Day celebrations. The delegation performed two highly emotional songs taken from the Memorial Day ceremony to be conducted before a gathering of some 500 members of the community's JCC.

The gathering in Karmiel was the first of a series, the purpose of which is to expose additional new volunteers to the partnership's wide range of activities.
