In a grand ceremony, the Jordan Valley College recently distributed over $63,000 in scholarship funds to students studying in the College. These scholarships for students in the Sovev Kinneret region were enabled entirely by the P2K communities (Minneapolis-St.Paul, Milwaukee and Tulsa) who, by their generosity and understanding of the difficult economic times in Israel, earmarked their annual allocation for scholarships, as well as additional special funds. These special funds were gathered by the communities in the face of an alarming trend identified in the College of students dropping out, not because of scholastic shortcomings, but rather due to economic hardships. These scholarships have enabled many of these students to stay in school and they will hopefully move on towards successful completion of their studies.
The monies were distributed to 102 students, all of who are studying for B.A. undergraduate degrees, for diplomas in the School of Associate Engineering, or in the division for certificated courses, including the School for Hotel Management in conjunction with the Holiday Inn Hotel.
The most impressive and moving ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr Yitzhak Blonder, head of the Northern Division of the Jewish Agency for Israel, Dr. Peter Pezaro, CEO of the Jordan Valley College, and Ms. Smadar Perach, Director of the Sovev Kinneret Region of the Jewish Agency for Israel.
