Dor Sheni, Kiryat Malachi’s own teen performing group, stole Seattle’s heart during Hannukah as they sang, danced and engaged community members of all ages. During their week-long stay, Dor Sheni had more than 21 performances, covered more than 2,400 miles and entertained more than 2,000 people. They performed at synagogues, community centers, senior centers, and day schools for both Jewish and Non-Jewish audiences.
Dor Sheni was sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle as a part of their ongoing partnership with Israel, which creates person to person connections between Seattle and its sister community, Kiryat Malachi. Dor Sheni’s performances also brought community members together, a key Federation tenet. When asked about their performance, one local assisted living facility exclaimed, “We loved the interaction the group had with our residents. We all had a great time.”
Dor Sheni’s visit kicked off Seattle’s community-wide Israel@60 programming schedule. The Israel@60 program will include activities sponsored and hosted by Jewish agencies throughout Seattle open to the entire Seattle community. Specific Israel@60 programs can be found on PlanitJewish.com and in the JTnews calendar section under Israel Programming
