The screening process culminated in the selection of 35 religious and secular eleventh graders from Nahariya for participation in the Young Leadership project. This is the second group to take part in the program, which is run jointly by Partnership 2000, the Amal School, and the Nahar-Deiah Hesder Yeshiva.
The course will include sessions on Jewish identity, Zionism, Israeli society, leadership skills, and strengthening the relationship between Israel and the Diaspora.
During the course the participants will travel to Jerusalem for an intensive seminar, to include visits to governmental institutions and encounters with elected officials from different sectors of Israeli society.
As part of the project, several participants will attend a summer camp in Northern New Jersey where they will get to know American Jewish teens, take part in the various camp activities, and bring the Israeli spirit to the Diaspora setting in the form of hands-on workshops.
