The residents of the southern part of Israel have been suffering in the last few years from an unbearable reality, that of a daily war, with rockets falling on civilian population.
The "Red Color" Alert, warning of a rocket falling, has become part of their daily routine.
Following the escalation in the security situation, the Israeli Government took a decision to start Operation "Cast Lead" in the Gaza Strip, in December 2008. More than 3,000 families from Netivot and Sedot Negev had to stay in bomb shelters for about a month, and despite the difficulties, they demonstrated patience and restraint, encouraging the IDF soldiers to complete their important task.
Gladly, the Region was well prepared for such a scenario, of residents having to stay for a long time in the bomb shelters, and this readiness was very much acknowledged by the residents and appreciated. Many recreational and stress-easing activities were organized for those who stayed in bomb shelters, in addition to the logistic organization arranged by the municipalities.
