The Tel Aviv-Los Angeles Partnership: Liberating Ourselves from Old Models for Israel-Diaspora Relationships

As we prepare for Pesach and our season of freedom, Jews in Los Angeles and Tel Aviv celebrate a decade of collaboration on a revolutionary project - the Tel Aviv-Los Angeles Partnership funded primarily by the Los Angeles Jewish Federation - that has begun the liberation of both communities from the constraints of an antiquated and asymmetric relationship between Israel and the Diaspora. As we as a people celebrate our escape from slavery, it also seems appropriate to take a few moments to celebrate an emerging new model for engagement between Jews living in our ancestral homeland and Jews around the world...
