Partnership 2000 (P2K) and The Jewish Agency for Israel

Partnership 2000 (P2K) is a program of the Jewish Agency for Israel that promotes regional development in Israel and forges relationships between these regions and Jewish communities in the Diaspora. P2K supports education, twinning and coexistence programs, leadership development, economic and tourism initiatives.

The Jewish Agency for Israel is the organization that transforms money into action. The Jewish Agency, with funds raised in Diaspora communities, absorbs new immigrants, creates Jewish educational materials and strengthens the ties among Jews all over the world.

In the Western Galilee Region, in addition to P2K, the Jewish Agency operates:

• The Tapuz Absorption Center in Nahariya, home to 300 immigrants from Ethiopia.

• First Home in the Homeland, a program for immigrant families from the Former Soviet Union who wish to live on kibbutz.

• Kibbutz Ulpan, a program to help newcomers learn Hebrew and to facilitate their absorption into Israeli Society.

The Western Galilee Region and The Central Region Consortium

The Western Galilee Region includes the city of Akko and the rural communities of the Mate Asher Regional Council.

The Central Region Consortium currently includes 14 American Jewish communities. The Consortium pools resources and shares ideas as it empowers and networks a wide range of communities.

Organizational Structure

The planning of joint projects is done by parallel American and Israeli committees.

Joint Task Forces carry out the detail work of the partnership through regular conference calls and email .

The governing Joint Steering Committee meets twice a year.
