Neve Tzuf

Background Information
In the heart of the Um Tzafa forest reserve in western Binyamin, surrounded by a sea of green pine trees, lies the religious community village of Neve Tzuf,. Established in 1977, it is one of the oldest communities in the Mateh Binyamin Regional Council, which manages Jewish settlements to the north of Jerusalem.  Today the Neve Tzuf community includes over 200 families combining a love of the Torah, the Jewish People and the Land of Israel with quality of life, a healthy community and a vibrant social life.  They maintain as a high priority in their lives community involvement and mutual help.

Population and Community
The population of Neve Tzuf is varied both in age and background.  Its founders now age 50 and over, were joined over the years by a large number of young people broadening the age span, which presently represents all age groups. Immigrants from various countries as well as native Israelis make up the residents of Neve Tzuf adding a colorful makeup to the population. Many are originally from English speaking countries including the community’s rabbi who is formerly from the United States.
The community of Neve Tzuf is known for its charitable activity on behalf of people in need, both within and outside of the village, as well as for its tradition of mutual aid extended to community members – during times of both happiness and difficulty.
The community village features a central Ashkenazi synagogue as well as additional Mizrachi and Yemenite synagogues.  A varied program of Torah classes and lectures are offered by the community’s Rabbi as well as other community members and guests.

Education
An extensive educational system is available for Neve Tzuf residents they include a daycare center, family childcare centers and kindergartens providing care for children from three months to post-kindergarten age.  Elementary school age children study at the local State-religious school until grade six,  youth in Junior High and High school study in Regional or National educational institutions. Boys, study at the Talmon junior high school and at other yeshiva high schools, and the girls attend the ulpana in Ofra or at other high schools of their choice.  Transportation to the local schools is provided by the Mateh Binyamin Regional Council.

Additional Services
A variety of services and facilities are available within the community they include a Leumit Health Fund clinic that provides services throughout the week; a men’s and a women’s mikveh; a dental clinic; an active library offering literary and reference books; a grocery store; and an indoor swimming pool that is open almost all year round.

Employment
Most of the community’s inhabitants are employed outside of the settlement, in the Tel Aviv or Jerusalem areas, which are approximately a 30-40 minute drive. Due to the village’s proximity to major employment centers in the country there are a variety of professional opportunities available.  In addition there are a considerable number of sources of employment within the community and the surrounding area in education, services and private businesses.
