Since her Aliyah from Boston in the 1970s Emily has dedicated her professional and volunteer careers of more than 40 years, to strengthening Israeli society. Those have included community development; management of social, educational and medical non-profit organizations; training of professional and volunteer community leadership; and supporting the growth of religious pluralism in Israel. Throughout her career she has also worked to build mutual understanding between Israel and the Diaspora.

Professionally, Emily has held senior staff positions at the Yoseftal Institute for Community Development; the NCJW Research Center for Innovation in Education at the Hebrew University; the Israel Movement for Reform Judaism and The Moriah Foundation. She also served as the first Executive Director of the Counseling Center for Women, of the Israel Heart Fund and of The Honey Foundation for Israel. For sixteen years she was a faculty member of the Hebrew University’s Schwartz Program for Professional Community Leadership. In the 1990s, she and a partner established E and B Associates, a consulting firm through which she provided project management and strategic planning to the Joint Distribution Committee, the Feuerstein Institute, the Pediatric Department of Hadassah Hospital, hi-tech startups, a leading Israeli lobbying firm and the Jewish Agency for Israel.

Emily’s volunteer positions over the years have included five years as Chairperson of the Israel Masorti Movement; Chairperson of the Hod v’Hadar Masorti Congregation in Kfar Saba and Founding Chairperson of the Jewish Pluralism Watch of the Masorti Movement. She has been a Board member of the Schechter Institute, a JDC committee for a leadership program for Israeli Arab early childhood professionals and Agudat Adi for the promotion of organ donations. She has been and continues to be an active Board member of the Israel Association for Ethiopian Jewry.

Currently, Emily serves as the Co-Chair of Mercaz Olami and represents Mercaz on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Keren Kayemet L’Yisrael. (KKL-JNF). She also is the Chair of KKL’s Committee on Environment and Science. Her KKL roles as well as all the others described above have helped fulfill her childhood dream to contribute to the Jewish people and the Zionist vision.

Emily holds a B.A degree in Economics from the University of Connecticut and an M.A. in Contemporary Jewish Studies from the Hornstein Program, Brandeis University.

Along with her personal and professional activities, Emily enjoys family life with husband Jack, daughters Ilana and Michal and their partners and children.

She serves as a Board member since April 2023.
