Former FVOT Employee Now Receiving Aid
For years, Ofer Baram worked for The Jewish Agency’s Fund for Victims of Terror, delivering aid to victims. Now, Ofer is receiving aid from the Fund as his son, Aviv, was murdered by Hamas terrorists in Kfar Aza on October 7.
On October 7, Aviv Baram, 33, alongside friends, was defending his home in Kfar Aza against Hamas terrorists who had infiltrated. While engaged in battle, Aviv was shot in the legs, yet he continued to fight despite being injured. For several days, Aviv was considered missing, and feared kidnapped, until his body was identified.
Aviv was the son of Ofer Baram, who for years worked as the director of The Jewish Agency’s Fund for Victims of Terror in the south, running between rockets to provide support to victims impacted by terror within 48 hours of an attack. Ofer also previously served as The Jewish Agency’s Director of Aliyah in the southern region. Tragically, Ofer is now receiving aid from the Fund himself.
Today, Ofer, as well as many other displaced residents of Kibbutz Kfar Aza, is staying at the Shefayim Hotel. There, he shared the devastating story of his son’s murder and how his journey with the Fund for Victims of Terror has come full circle.
The Fund is made possible by the generosity of the Jewish Federations of North America / United Israel Appeal, Keren Hayesod, foundations and donors worldwide and people like you. Our aid is critical for victims’ immediate well-being and long-term recovery and we are currently operating and supporting more victims on a wider scale than ever before.
