Keith Shapiro is the Chairman and founder of Karlov Street Capital, an alternative investment business focused on the real estate and private equity industries. Previously, he served for over 20 years as the founding Managing Shareholder and Chairman of the Chicago Office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, where he served on the firm’s Executive Committee for almost two decades.
Keith has been actively involved in Jewish community leadership for many years, including previously serving 16 years as a JUF Board Member and Chair of both the Lawyer’s Division and TIP (now known as JPN). He’s also served as Vice Chairman and a Board Member of the Anti-Defamation League Midwest Region and as a Board Member and leader in raising the funds to build Rochelle Zell Jewish High School, where his 3 sons graduated. Keith is also a former Board Member of the Jewish Theological Seminary.
Beyond the Jewish Community, Keith served for almost 20 years on the Board of the Emory University School of Law and for many years on the Board of Directors of Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine and Sciences.
Keith’s wife Marci served for many years on the JUF Women’s Board and as a Board Member and Officer of the Council for Jewish Elderly and the CJE Endowment Foundation. Keith’s sons Jacob, Michael and Jordan have all been active in Jewish philanthropy and Israel advocacy. Jordan will be the 2024 Campaign Chairman for YLD and Jacob is the current Co-Chairman of the National Young Leadership Cabinet for the Jewish Federations of North America.
Finally, Keith has for many years had a passion for supporting Chicago’s emerging chefs and restauranteurs and owns or is an investor in many of the city’s top Michelin Star and James Beard Award winning restaurants and this week was named for the second time to New City Magazine’s list of the top 50 people in the Chicago restaurant industry.
