Israel at War: Operation Roaring Lion

Our immediate response and ongoing efforts on the ground in Israel amid attacks from Iran and Lebanon

Families across Israel are racing to shelters as missiles and drones from Iran, along with rockets from Lebanon, strike cities across the country. Sirens are sounding nonstop. Each new wave of launches sends millions of Israelis running for safety.

Since February 28, 2026, when Operation Roaring Lion began, The Jewish Agency’s response on the ground in Israel has been swift and comprehensive, providing immediate assistance to hundreds of victims and helping communities navigate this moment of crisis.

Our Response

From the first moments of the attacks, The Jewish Agency has been providing immediate aid to victims and affected communities across Israel, working closely with local authorities. Through our newly launched Roaring Lion Emergency Fund, we are delivering:

  • Emergency financial assistance for bereaved families, the injured, and those whose homes were destroyed, including immediate grants and longer term rehabilitation support.

  • Critical support for evacuees and displaced families, working with municipalities to deliver urgent aid and resilience services as they begin to rebuild.

  • Focused care for the most vulnerable, including children, seniors, and those facing trauma, ensuring they receive the protection, stability, and help they urgently need.

At the same time, we are continuing to support the 20,000+ people under our care across Israel, including new immigrants, seniors living in Amigour housing, and participants in immersive Israel experience programs such as Masa Israel Journey. Our staff are helping ensure their safety, providing guidance during sirens, and offering resilience and emotional support.

The Jewish Agency’s efforts rely on the generosity of The Jewish Federations of North America / United Israel Appeal, Keren Hayesod, foundations and donors worldwide, and people like you. Your support helps us deliver critical relief, ensure the long-term recovery of those impacted and lets Israelis know they do not stand alone.
