When a missile struck their farm, 40 pregnant sheep were killed and Abed, 17, was severely injured in the leg by shrapnel. The day after his operation, Jewish Agency staff visited Abed in the hospital, bringing critical financial support for his family.

Abed, 17, lives near the Arab-Israeli village of Kfar Qasim, about 20 kilometers east of Tel Aviv. The second of five children, he loves helping his dad on the family farm.

On Saturday, February 28, Abed was working with his father in their sheep stables when they heard the red alert siren begin to sound. As they were running toward shelter, a missile fell and landed in the middle of their property. The shrapnel was so intense that it severely injured Abed’s leg and killed 40 pregnant sheep. Abed’s father immediately called an ambulance and rushed Abed to the hospital where he was rushed into surgery.

The Jewish Agency visited Abed in the hospital the day his surgery to share with him that Jews around the world were thinking about him and that The Jewish Agency will be there for him throughout his rehabilitation. Both Abed and his parents were incredibly appreciative of the financial support we delivered and also to know that global Jewry were sending their good wishes for his recovery and showing their solidarity with ALL of Israel’s citizens.
