Before Rosh Hashanah in September 2023, The Jewish Agency released newly gathered statistics which showed the number of Jews worldwide stands at approximately 15.7 million compared to 15.6 million in the previous year, with over 7.2 million Jews residing in Israel. Read the press release.

On August 10, 2023, amid violent clashes between the Ethiopian Army and the FANO militia in the Amhara province, three planes coordinated by The Jewish Agency took off from Gondar to Addis Ababa carrying 150+ passengers including Israeli citizens, Jewish Agency staff and program participants as well as ~50 Aliyah-eligible immigrants.
